Unity
For the SCM, being uniting far surpasses any other measure. The term “polar star” is used because it helps us remember that our common goal is to evangelize the world, not to have people adhere to our particular belief systems. This movement never set out to be its own set of churches. In fact, it was intended to be an association that would allow Christians from many denominations to come together for that sake of the kingdom. “Though we are not the only Christians…we are Christians only” is a motto that best complements this ideology. SCM never claims to have all the answers, or to be the movement that has all its theology correct. We want to “Sink into the body of Christ at large,” into a diverse body of believers that is composed of many denominations, ethnicities, and nationalities.
