“Unity for the evangelism of the world!”

John 17 Paradigm

One of the main principles of the Stone Campbell Movement (SCM) is found in the Prayer of Jesus in John chapter 17 (in particular versus 20-23). Jesus desired that His followers be united just as He and the Father are in fact one. The purpose of “oneness” is so that they would shine in a broken and dark world. This is a term called evangelism, reaching out to those who are far from God and telling them the message of Christ. SCM understands that one of the main ways evangelism is carried out is through unity of believers. As will be explained more thoroughly is the fact that unity is meant to explain the connection of this movement with other Christians inside other movements and denominations. The main goal of this movement is that LOST PEOPLE WOULD COME TO KNOW CHRIST! The purpose of this movement is to be a “visible recognizable Christian unity based on Biblical Authority for the sake of world evangelism so that the world may believe” (R. Rea, personal communication, November, 20, 2019).
